DISTRICT 13-C GIRLS' TOURNEY: Drummond goes back-to-back in 13-C

Make it back-to-back for the Drummond girls' basketball team.

The Trojans won the District 13-C girls' crown for the second year in a row by topping Philipsburg 48-42 in the championship game Saturday night at the Sister Rita Activity Center.

Drummond, ranked fourth in Class C, moved to a perfect 20-0 with the win.

Both the Trojans and the Prospectors (13-8) will represent the district at next week's divisional tournament at Butte's Maroon Activity Center.

This marks Drummond's sixth straight berth into divisionals; Philipsburg made it for the first time since 2001-02.

Saturday marked the narrowest win of the season for the Trojans. Only two district teams managed more than 30 points against them all season. Philipsburg dropped its first two matchups with Drummond by at least 36 points each time.

In the consolation final, Alberton beat Victor 61-31. The Panthers lost to Philipsburg in Thursday's semifinals, so there will be no challenge game.
