SEATTLE – Easton Reimers of Missoula was among three Montanans who won titles at the Seattle Seahawks' team finals for NFL Punt Pass & Kick last weekend.
Calla Haldorson of Hamilton won the girls' age 14-15 group and Chloe Davis of Ronan took first among girls 8-9. All of them won decisively: Reimers took the boys' 6-7 competition by over 30 feet and Haldorson's victory was by almost 45.
Reimers, whose total was 196 feet, 5 inches, is the top qualifier nationally and owns all four of his age group records for Montana. He punted 73-2, marked 65-3 in the pass and sent his kick 58 feet.
Haldorson's winning total was 294-6, and her pass of 105-2 was 33 feet further than the runner-up in her age group.
Davis, a 2013 finalist, had a total of 153-10. The next-best mark in her group was 137-2.
Several area athletes excelled: Wrangler Gaustad of Charlo was second in the boys' 12-13 group, with a total of 311-4. Kooper Klobucar of Butte was third among boys' 10-11, and Savannah Hansen of Dillon was fourth in the girls' 12-13 group.
Two more Montanans won their age group at a Denver Broncos regional event last weekend, giving the state a total of five champions.
All of the youngsters competing in Seattle had to not only win a western Montana section held Oct. 5 in Missoula, but also have a mark that ranked among the top four in the 14 sectionals spread out through Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington.
The top four finishers in Seattle qualified for the national PP&K championship, to be held in January in conjunction with an NFL playoff game to be determined. Each NFL team is send four in each age group, for a total of 128.
