Acharya paces UM golfers at tourney

The University of Montana women's golf team posted a closing-round score of 313 Tuesday to finish in 11th place at the Ptarmigan Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Host Colorado State took first place with a team total of 876, while Colorado and San Jose State tied for second, 26 strokes behind the Rams.

Montana junior Jasi Acharya carded a 73 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh place with a three-day total of 220.

Freshman Britney Hayes was solid in her first tournament for the Griz. The Bozeman native shot a final-day round of 79, leaving her in a tie for 39th place with a total of 233.

Montana returns to the links on Sept. 23 at the Idaho Vandal Invitatioal in Moscow, Idaho.
