Freshman guard Mandy Morales set a pair of school single game free throw records on the way to 27 points Friday night as the Montana Lady Griz held off a second half Miami charge to down the Hurricane 83-74 at Dahlberg Arena.

Morales connected on 18 of 21 charity tosses. The former record of 14 made was held by current Lady Griz assistant coach Shannon Cate Schweyen while the attempts mark was shared by Skyla Sisco and Ann Lake at 17. Morales also shared the team rebounding lead with Sara Gale at 9 and dished out a team-high six assists.

Johanna Closson, Dana Conway and Jody McLeod also scored in double figures for Montana, now 6-2 heading into a Sunday afternoon game at Gonzaga. Miami, now 7-2, had five players in double figures led by Renee Taylor with 18. Leading scorer Tamara James had 13, nine below her season average.

Montana led 44-31 at halftime.
