FLORENCE - The Bitterroot Bucs won both halves of a Class A American Legion baseball doubleheader with the Salmon, Idaho, Savages in five innings due to the 10-run margin rule.

The Bucs took the opener 11-1 and the second contest 26-2.

In the first game, the Bucs were led at the plate by Jeremy Johnson, who doubled and drove in two. Zach Blackstun was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Austin Nogle singled twice.

Riley Phillips got the complete-game win on the mound for Bitterroot, allowing three hits while fanning six without issuing a walk.

Cody Rolshoven was 4-for-5 with a double and four RBIs for the Bucs in the second game. Billy Hanna had a grand slam and seven RBIs, Nogle was 3-for-4 and Shorty Leonard was 2-for-3.

Dan Lockman and Blackstun combined on a two-hitter for the Bucs, who ended the afternoon 2-0 in conference and 7-11 overall.

Pioneers win two

The Missoula Pioneers picked up a pair of wins, beating the Mission Valley Rockies 10-0 and the Kootenai Valley Rangers 4-3 in extra innings at the Libby Wood Bat tournament.

Against Mission Valley, Missoula's Marshall Murray was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Cody Oliver and Dalton Gensch each had two hits in a game that was shortened to five innings. TJ Porter got the win on the mound, striking out five.

In the second game, Taylor Entzel had the game-winning RBI for Missoula in the top of the ninth. He also pitched the final four innings to pick up the win.

Oliver had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Pioneers. Jordan Schafer went 3 for 5 with an RBI.

In Friday night's tourney opener, the Pioneers lost 5-0 to the Libby Loggers.

Missoula (6-3) plays Cranbrook, British Columbia, at 11:30 a.m. Sunday to wrap up the tournament.

Mavs rained out

The Class AA Missoula Mavericks' American Legion baseball doubleheader scheduled for Saturday in Bozeman was rained out.

In addition, the Class A Mavs' doubleheader against the Bozeman Spikes slated for Lindborg-Cregg Field was also canceled due to a scheduling conflict with Bozeman.

Sunday, the A Mavs play a 1 p.m. twin bill at home against the Butte Muckers, while the AA team is scheduled to play at Butte against the Miners at 1 p.m.
