GREAT FALLS – The Mission Valley Mariners and Libby Loggers kept their seasons alive on Friday at the State A American Legion baseball tournament.

The Mariners clocked the Vauxhall Spurs, a team from Alberta, 15-0 in the first game of the day at Centene Stadium.

The Loggers followed with a 19-8 win over the host Great Falls Electrics in the second elimination game of the day.

Libby plays at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday against Gallatin Valley.

Mission Valley plays the loser of the Belgrade-Laurel contest in another loser-out game at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The undefeated game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Mission Valley 15, Vauxhall 0

Justin Evertz tossed a one-hitter to lead the M’s over the Spurs in a contest that was shortened by the 10-run margin rule.

Evertz was nearly flawless through seven innings, striking out a whopping 12 batters, while walking four.

Zeke Webster-Yaqui was 3 for 4 with three runs batted in to lead Mission Valley, which lost 4-3 in Thursday’s opener.

Also, Robert Gauthier and Bradley Pichler each drove in a pair of runs as the M’s tallied 13 hits.

Kaden Odland got the only hit for Vauxhall, which made eight errors.

Nicholas Robertson was 3 for 3 with four runs batted in to lift Libby over Great Falls in a loser-out game that lasted just seven innings.

Josh Foote added a 3-for-5, three-RBI effort for the Loggers, while Micah Germany was 1 for 4 with three RBIs and four runs scored.

Will Reichel pitched the whole game for Libby, giving up seven earned runs on eight hits. He struck out four and walked five.

Reichel also had two hits and an RBI.

Andy Gardner allowed just one earned run in eight innings on the mound for the Reds in their win over the Outlaws.

Jonathan Koessl pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.

Gardner also had a pair of hits and an RBI.
