GREAT FALLS -- The Great Falls Bison used a 106-yard rushing performance by Walker Ferda and two touchdowns by Jamison Hermanson to beat the Big Sky Eagles, 29-21, on Friday.
Back-to-back touchdowns in the first quarter put the Bison up early. Maxx Sitzmann hauled in a 74-yard pass from QB Kaden Sukut for Great Falls' first score, and less than two minutes later Ferda scored on an 8-yard run. A two-point conversion gave the Bison a 15-0 lead.
The next two quarters were all Big Sky. Tyler Ogilvie threw a touchdown to Nick Wakai in the second quarter, and a Michael Banna 1-yard run, followed by a two-point conversion of their own, tied it at 15-15.
But two big runs by the Bison would end the Eagles chances. Jamison Hermanson reeled off a 48-yard rushing touchdown in the third, and then another for 28 yards in the fourth.
The Eagles' Ogilvie made his best effort at a comeback, breaking free for a 74-yard touchdown of his own, but the damage was too great for Big Sky to overcome. The Eagles finished with 312 yards of total offense, but Ogilvie was picked off twice in the loss.
