BELGRADE -- Despite boasting a 21-8 advantage in shots on goal, the defending state champion Corvallis boys' soccer team fell to Belgrade 1-0 in a rematch of the 2014 state title game.

Belgrade's John Davidson scored off an assist from Justin McGowan in the 39th minute.

Included in Corvallis bounty of scoring chances were three corner kicks the Blue Devils couldn't capitalize on. 

"I liked our competitiveness and we had a lot of shots and opportunities," Corvallis coach Greg Shifflett said. "The defense pelayed really well all game.  I was encouraged at times with the offense. Belgrade has very good defenders."
