COLUMBIA FALLS — For the first time since moving up to Class A in 2016, the Ronan softball team punched its ticket to the state tournament Monday.

The Maidens did so by rolling to a 12-0 victory over Browning in a play-in game that lasted six innings. Kiara Sherman picked up the pitching win, facing just three hitters over the minimum and benefiting from error-less defense from her teammates.

Emilie Corley smacked a home run for Ronan and teammate Rhiley Big Beaver had a par of hits, including a double. Teammate Elizabeth Bluemel lined a double and was one of five Maidens to score twice, including Madison Clairmont, Regan Clairmont, Madison Miller and Corley.

Ronan will play Hamilton in its State A opener on Thursday at 11 a.m. in Polson. The winner will play Hardin at 3 p.m. Thursday while the loser will fall into the consolation bracket and will play Friday at 11 a.m.
