BUTTE — The Missoula Jr. Bruins posted their fourth straight victory Saturday, skating past the Butte Cobras at the Community Ice Center, 7-3.
Missoula boosted its record to 5-5 in the NA3 Hockey League's Frontier Division. Butte fell to 0-8.
Missoula set the tone by jumping to a 3-0 lead in the first 12 minutes. Connor Frye broke the ice at 7:15 with a goal on assists from Keith Zobel and Kyler Fullerton.
Misha Akatnov doubled the Jr. Bruins' lead roughly two minutes later, lighting the lamp on an assist from Vadim Zubkov. Zubkov made it 3-0 with just over 8 minutes left in the first period, scoring on an assist from Akatnov.
Butte scored its first goal with just under 4 minutes left in the opening period. Tyson Stovin did the honors on an assist from Will Shults.
Butte evened the score at 3-3 with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the second period. Stovin scored on an assist from Wyatt Haakenson and Carson Quam added an unassisted goal.
The Jr. Bruins went back up for good midway through the period. Akatnov scored his second goal on an assist from Evan Williams.
Missoula finished strong with three goals in the third period. Zubkov scored two of those to complete a hat trick and Bill Lucas added an unassisted goal.
Seth Daniel earned the win in net for Missoula. He made 27 saves.
The Jr. Bruins will return to action Saturday when they play host to Frontier Division leader Helena at 7:05 p.m.
