GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Missoula Jr. Bruins posted their fifth straight win Friday, holding off the Gillette Wild for a 3-1 victory at Spirit Hall Ice Arena. 

Missoula boosted its record to 23-17 in the NA3 Hockey League's Frontier Division and is sitting in good position to reach the playoffs with a solid finish. The Wild fell to 19-16-2.

The Jr. Bruins cashed in on power play opportunities in jumping to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Christian Ward scored at 3:47 on assists from Trevor Prince and Vadim Zubkov. Then it was Zubkov's turn to score roughly 10 minutes later, with helpers from Ward and Keith Zobel.

Gillette finally broke through for a goal against Missoula goalie Evan Williams at 6:43 in the second period. Jacob Kaminski did the honors on assists from Nolan Conrad and Zach VanCompernolle.

Zubkov scored his second goal to give the visitors a 3-1 lead at 3:16 in the third period. Jim Seielstad picked up an assist.

Williams finished with 50 saves for the Jr. Bruins. Gillette finished with a 51-22 edge in shots.

The Jr. Bruins will play the Wild again on Saturday night in Wyoming.
