IDAHO FALLS - Idaho Falls converted a field goal with 3:03 to play to lift the Mustangs past the Missoula Phoenix 9-7 Saturday in a first-round game of the Rocky Mountain Football League playoffs.
A good return on the ensuing kickoff helped the Phoenix move to the Idaho Falls 8-yard line with about a minute to play. But quarterback Shane Jurasek was picked off in the end zone and the Mustangs ran out the clock.
Idaho Falls led 6-0 at halftime on a 2-yard score by Travis Boden with 1:14 to play in the half.
Missoula's lone score came on a fumble recovery for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Idaho Falls (6-3) advanced to face the Utah Wolverines in Saturday's semifinals.
Missoula ended its season at 5-4.
