DEER LODGE - The Missoula Pioneers baseball squad brought some muscle Wednesday when they traveled to face the Class A American Legion Deer Lodge Wranglers.
Brant Montelius led a 21-hit Missoula attack as the Pioneers bombarded the Wranglers 21-12.
Montelius doubled, homered and finished 3-for-5. Pioneer teammate Eddie Apostol went 4-for-6 with a two-base hit and Kirk Booi smacked a pair of doubles in his 3-for-4 afternoon.
Missoula starting pitcher Dustin McCrudden earned the win. He was relieved in the seventh by Paul Paeth, who held Deer Lodge scoreless over the final two frames after allowing a three-run seventh.
Deer Lodge took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the third before the Pioneers scored six times in the fourth and seven more in the fifth.
Blake Niederklein was 3-for-5 with a triple to lead the Wranglers.
