BOZEMAN — The Missoula Jr. Bruins dropped their seventh straight game in heartbreaking fashion Friday night.

They fought back from an early two-goal deficit but then fell behind again in the second period and never recovered in dropping a 6-5 decision to the Bozeman Icedogs in front of 380 fans at Haynes Pavilion. Missoula is 17-26 in NA3 Hockey League Frontier Division action while the Icedogs are 5-38.

The Jr. Bruins started slow, spotting the hosts a 2-0 lead in the first 11 minutes. Austin Charnholm scored at 3:59 on assists from Wyatt Burrell and Beckett Patten. Charnholm then added a power-play goal at 10:26.

Missoula responded with two goals in the next five minutes. Tyler Prince found the net on feeds from Austin Dennison and Vadim Zubkov. Then Prince scored again on an assist from Josh Kirk.

Bozeman reclaimed the lead at 2:41 in the second period on a goal by Jacob Boie. He scored again about 10 minutes later to stretch the Icedogs' lead to 4-2.

Keith Zobel cut the Jr. Bruins' deficit in half at 13:49 in the second period. Bozeman went back up by two on Charnholm's third goal, then Charnholm scored again at 11:30. Missoula scored with 52 seconds left but it was too little, too late.

The Jr. Bruins will finish up their season with two home games next weekend. They will play the Helena Bighorns on Friday and Saturday.
