The Missoula Junior Bruins hung with the Great Falls Americans but ultimately fell 4-2 on Friday at Glacier Ice Rink.

Missoula drops to 9-12-1 with 19 points in NA3 Hockey League Frontier Division action. Great Falls improved to 15-5-2 with 32 points.

The Jr. Bruins gave up two goals in the first period and fell into a 3-0 hole 6:47 into the second period. Payton McSharry, Michael Fary and Tanner Rath scored the goals. Assisting were Jens Juliussen, Garrett Peters, Kyler Mack, Michael Houlihan and Fary.

Cameron Cunningham got Missoula on the board with a goal assisted by Hayden Moistner 9:07 into the period.

They then got within 3-2 when Vadim Zubkov scored 10:36 into the third period. Misha Akatnov and Josh Kirk assisted on the goal.

The Jr. Bruins pulled their goalie to try to score to force overtime, but Juliussen scored on an empty netter with 5 seconds remaining to seal a win for the Americans.

Bryan Sharp got the win in goal for Great Falls. He saved 26 of the 28 shots he faced.

Jr. Bruins goalie Brian Thomas saved 37 of the 40 shots he saw.
