POLSON - It was a good day to be named Ryan on Saturday at the Lake City Open at Polson Bay Golf Club.

Defending champ Ryan Malby of Kalispell carded a 5-under-par 67 to take a five-stroke lead in the professional division.

Ryan Fritz of Great Falls shot a 3-under 69 to take a one-stroke lead into Sunday's final 18 holes in the amateur division.

Polson's Roger Wallace is Malby's closest pursuer after opening with a 72 on a windy, wet day on the shores of Flathead Lake. Jeff Dooley of Libby, Mike Hanson of Kalispell, Dane Thorman of Columbia Falls, and David Owens of Missoula are another stroke back at 73.

Spencer Williams of Great Falls trails Fritz by a single stroke. Hamilton's Criag Hurlbert is third after a 72.

The tournament wraps up Sunday.
