Maulers lose opener

CODY, Wyo. – The Missoula Maulers hockey team had its season debut spoiled by American West Hockey League foe Yellowstone on Friday night, 6-3.

The Quake (1-0) spotted the Maulers a 2-0 lead in the first period and trailed 3-2 heading into the third period after Brett Mathews scored his second goal for the visitors. The third period was all Yellowstone as the home team scored four unanswered goals.

No statistics on the game were available. The Maulers and Quake will play again on Saturday night in Cody.
