The Missoula Maulers downed the Gillette Wild 6-2 Saturday evening at Glacier Ice Rink and set up a showdown for the American West Hockey League regular-season title later this week.

Jimmy Morris scored a pair of goals for the Maulers (39-6-1), who own a two-point advantage over the Helena Bighorns in the league standings.

Missoula and Helena meet Friday night at Glacier Ice Rink. A Maulers victory would clinch the franchise’s first regular-season championship. Helena would own a tiebreaker over Missoula should the Bighorns earn the victory.

Will Stawinski and CJ Morrison scored power-play goals for the Maulers, who outshot the Wild 42-16. Brett Mathews and Tim Schmidt also scored for Missoula.

McKinlee Baum made 14 saves to earn the win in goal for Missoula.
