AUSTIN, Texas — Five swimmers from Montana are competing this week at the Speedo USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals-West at the University of Texas.

Ethan Harder, Jack Leuthold and Peter Thompson of Billings, Katherine Berkoff of Missoula and Parker Keller of Helena are representing Montana.

The meet started Wednesday and concludes Saturday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. Preliminaries begin Thursday.

Berkoff, of the Missoula Aquatic Club, and Harder, of the Billings Aquatic Club, each enter the meet with the top time in an event -- both in the 200 backstroke. Harder will be competing in his future home pool; he has committed to the University of Texas.

Berkoff also swims in the 100 backstroke, 200 IM, 100 freestyle and 50 freestyle. She is seeded second in the 100 back, seventh in the 100 free, 10th in the 200 IM and 26th in the 50 free. 

Harder is also in the 100 back (third), 100 fly (35th) and 50 free (96th).

Leuthold and Thompson, both with the Billings Aquatic Club, compete in the 500 free, where Leuthold has the 35th best time and Thompson is 65th. Keller, with the Helena Lions Swim Club, is in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke, where he is seeded 91st and 117th.
