Some of the top hands on the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit will be in Polson on Friday and Saturday for the Mission Mountain PRCA Rodeo at the Polson Fairgrounds.
Action begins both nights at 7 o'clock with the youth events. Pro rodeo action begins at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
Seven of the top eight bareback riders in the current MPRC standings will be on hand. Circuit leader John Collins of Lewistown will ride Let's Play on Saturday night. His closest pursuer, Dale Stoller of Great Falls, is also due up on Saturday.
The top two bull riders in the MPRC will be in Polson. Leader Cole Burman, a University of Montana cowboy who hails from Glendive, is up on Saturday while Helena's Rick Wock, currently second, rides on Friday.
Former National Finals Rodeo qualifier Shelly Anzick of Livingston is scheduled to compete in barrel racing in Saturday's performance. She's currently third in the MPRC standings.
MPRC saddle bronc leader James Irish of Lewistown is up on Carmel Korn in Friday's performance, along with Clarence Brian Gilham of Browning, currently third in the MPRC standings. Jake Costello of Newell, S.D., who took second in the Arlee PRCA rodeo last month, rides on Saturday.
Other rodeos on tap this weekend around the state include the NRA Big Timber Rodeo on Friday and Saturday, and MPRC rodeos in Chinook, on Friday and Saturday, and in Augusta on Sunday.
Senior Pro Rodeo starts Friday in Hamilton
Seniors from all corners of the country will be roping and riding in the 24th annual Senior Pro Rodeo this weekend at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds.
The annual event brings in well-seasoned cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country and beyond. No one under the age of 40 is allowed to compete in the contest.
Rodeo organizer Jim Hale said he's expecting 160 contestants.
The rodeo starts Friday at
7 p.m. Tickets are available at Farmers State Bank. Adults tickets are $10 and children tickets are $4. Tickets at the gate run $12 for adults and $5 for children.
