Incident took place Friday near Rock Creek
Missoula authorities are looking for a man who allegedly attempted to abduct a 10-year-old girl Friday afternoon near Rock Creek.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. near Ekstroms Stage Station when a man saw the Missoula-area girl on Rock Creek Road and asked if she needed a ride home, said Sgt. Brad Giffin with the Missoula County Sheriff's office.
According to the girl's report, the man opened his car door and asked her in a friendly voice if she needed a ride, Giffin said. She told police that when she said no, the man persisted and became "pushy." He also asked for her address.
The man then grabbed her shirt sleeve and she screamed for help, Giffin said. While she screamed and resisted his hold, the man continued to pull her towards the car.
He let go of her and took off when a person on a four-wheeler came towards the car, Giffin said.
The girl told police she had never seen the man before.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s. He has shoulder-length brown hair, tan skin, hazel eyes and medium build. He was driving a round-bodied sedan, possibly a four-door, that appeared to be newly painted dark green. The car has Missoula license plates and has chrome lift-up handles and a chrome bumper.
