GREAT FALLS - Two-time defending divisional champion Morgan Daley of Kalispell put herself in position for a third straight title Thursday at the Northern AA divisional tournament.

Daley moved into the semifinals with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Laurel DeFrancesci of Great Falls Russell.

The Bravettes also advanced two doubles teams to the semis. Michele Bailey and Lizzie Iwerson downed Angie Boule and Meghan Gerrity of Great Falls Russell 6-0, 6-1 in a quarterfinal match. Danielle Bailey and Missy Schottlekorb defeated Jill Walters and Emily Bulger of Great Falls 6-1, 6-0 in another quarterfinal.

Kalispell's Matt Parker moved into the boys' singles semis with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ryan Lindeman of Great Falls Russell. The Braves' doubles' team of Kenny Lord and Andy Frey moved into the semis with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Ryan Storrusten and Jacob Johnson of Great Falls.

The top four singles players and doubles teams advance to the state Class AA tournament next week in Bozeman.

Southeastern B-C divisional: Host Jefferson High of Boulder took a big first-day lead Thursday in the Southeastern B-C tournament, comprised solely of girls' teams.

Boulder put up 12 points while Whitehall is second in the four-team field with six.

In singles, Boulder and Darby each advanced two players to Friday's semifinals. Top-seeded Virginia Johnson of Boulder will play Ashley Miller of Darby while defending divisional champion Bonny Bower of Darby will take on Heather Wesolovski of Boulder for spots in the championship match later Friday.

The top four singles players and top four doubles teams will advance to the state Class B-C tournament in Missoula May 17-19.
