Mabel E. Ostrom

MISSOULA - Mabel E. Ostrom, 81, of Missoula, passed away of natural causes on Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Village Health Care Center.

She was born on Oct. 9, 1919, in Maxbass, N.D., the daughter of Robert and Ellen Curry. Mabel was raised and educated in Maxbass. After graduating from high school, she attended college in Minnesota before moving to Missoula in 1939. Mabel enlisted in the Women's Army Corps in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946. She worked as a dental technician during World War II.

Shortly after her discharge, Mabel married Ivan Ostrom on Oct. 5, 1946, in Hamilton. They lived in Missoula until moving to Florence in 1959, and returned to Missoula in 1969.

Mabel belonged to several bridge clubs throughout the years. She loved her grandchildren dearly, and spending time with them. Mabel also enjoyed fishing and taking care of her flowers. Mabel was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother.

Mabel is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ivan; three daughters, Vickie Barta and husband, David, of Missoula; Connie Smith and husband, Eric, of Kalispell; and Mary Terrell and husband, Greg, of Missoula; five grandchildren, Jennifer Barta, Travis and Kristen Smith, and Justin and Kyle Terrell; brother-in-law Karl Ostrom of Florence; and several nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be held.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Mabel's name to the Village Health Care Center, Rainbow Unit, 2651 South Ave. W., Missoula, MT 59804.

Arrangements are under the direction of Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.

Bruce A. Healy

SOLDOTNA, Alaska - Bruce A. Healy, 36, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2001, in Anchorage, Alaska, from an injury sustained in a fall at his home in Soldotna, Alaska.

Bruce is survived by his mother Charlotte Packard of Kalispell; father Richard Healy of Columbia Falls; brother Richard Gordon of Kalispell; sisters Glenda Howe of Illinois and Mechelle Anderson of Columbia Falls; children Brian B. Healy and Travis D. Healy, both of Ronan, and Heath A. Healy and Demry N. Healy, both of Soldotna; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Ervin L. Kinney

KALISPELL - Ervin L. Kinney, 84, a longtime Eureka resident, died Thursday, April 26, 2001, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Beatrice Burlingham in 1977, wife Edna DeShazer on March 12, 2001, and daughter Delores Hall in 1990.

Survivors include his son Gary Kinney of Libby; daughter Sharon Peterson and husband, Kenneth, of Eureka; brother Albert Kinney of Eureka; son-in-law Roger Hall of Eureka; grandchildren Raymond Peterson and wife, Deb; Randy Peterson and wife, Val; Ricky Peterson and wife, Lisa; Rocky Peterson and wife, Lily; and Tom Hall and wife, Jessie, all of Eureka; Allen Hall of Missoula; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at First Church of God in Eureka. Local arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
