GREAT FALLS - The Kalispell Bravettes softball team completed its first-ever season sweep of the two Great Falls teams here on Friday.

Kalispell won the first of the non-conference games 2-0 over Great Falls High then went on to beat Great Falls Russell 6-1 in the late game.

Jordan Waverek threw a two-hit shutout in the first game. Waverek struck out six batters while improving her record to 8-3.

Kalispell had eight hits in the second game and put together a pair of three-run innings to beat the Rustlers.

Chelsey Lorenz gave up four hits, struck out six and didn't allow a walk in earning the win. Steph Lanfear had a two-run single for Kalispell.

Valissa Sneck went 6-for-7 on the day to lead the Bravettes. Kalispell concluded the regular season at 14-8.

n Libby sweeps Bigfork

LIBBY - Libby ran its Western A record to 9-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Bigfork.

The Loggers won the first game 12-5 and the nightcap 5-1 to finish the regular season at 14-8.

Libby banged out nine hits - three by Erin Cooper - in the opener and took advantage of seven Bigfork errors. Cooper and Kelley Bothman each had a pair of RBIs. Juli Barnes improved to 6-4 with the win.

Lacey Thompson tossed a one-hitter to improve to 8-4.

ST. IGNATIUS - Western A Columbia Falls pounded out 14 hits and scored 11 runs to turn back Class B-C St. Ignatius.

Melissa McReynolds, Kerrianne Kuka and Terra Pyles all had three hits for the Wildkats and Kuka had two runs batted in.

Columbia Falls had two big innings with a five-run first inning and another five runs in the fifth. St. Ignatius collected 11 hits in the loss, led by Shaylena Piedalue's two hits and two RBIs.

Stephanie Robertson survived the hitters' duel to pick up the win for Columbia Falls. Jaspen McDonald struck out five but took the loss for the Bulldogs.

FLORENCE - The Florence Falcons used one big inning to dispatch of Class B-C foe Thompson Falls in five innings.

Florence sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth when it scored eight runs. The Falcons scored one more run in the fifth inning to give them enough for the 10-run margin rule.

Michelle Block went 3-for-3 batting and started the big inning with a two-run triple. Candace Craun, Rachel Sullivan, Angela Vandeburgh and Haley Bradley all had run-scoring hits. Megan Yuhas completed the scoring with a two-run single.

Cassie Phillips allowed five hits and two runs in picking up her 13th victory of the season.

Kelly Taylor and Kayleena Sparks had RBI singles for the Bluehawks.

The Falcons head to Conrad Saturday for a tripleheader with Conrad, Cut Bank and Sunburst.
