When one of United Way of Missoula County's agencies said it didn't need any previously allocated funding this year, United Way decided to offer it to other agencies.
"Rather than sit on that money, which we don't do, we're going to allocate it," said Judy Wing, United Way's executive director.
So, United Way is seeking proposals for funding from any nonprofit agency in three main areas: best practices, strategic alliances and new services.
Best practices are innovative or proven methods of providing service that achieve results.
Strategic alliances involve two or more agencies working together to reduce administrative costs to provide more money for services. They include back office consolidations, partnerships and mergers.
New services can be applied for by any of United Way's existing partnerships or agencies that are not now receiving financial support.
Proposals are due in the United Way office by June 20.
