Series: Montana leads 28-4 and has won the last 25, including a 79-62 victory in Missoula to open last season after a three-year hiatus in the series. Idaho's last victories over UM came in 1985, when it beat the Lady Griz three times.

Notes & quotes: Montana got one vote in the AP Top 25 poll this week, good for 52nd place. It's a start. … Idaho "will be very comparable to Boise," UM coach Robin Selvig said. The Lady Griz beat Boise State by three points on Nov. 20 in Missoula. It's the Vandals' first home game after losing to Colorado State 71-60 and Alabama-Birmingham 90-70 at the Nevada Tournament in Reno, and falling to Drake 91-76 and NAU 61-48 at NAU's tournament last weekend. … Idaho is coached by Hilary Recknor, who preceded Karen Deden of Missoula in the post at the University of Washington in the mid-80s. … Idaho was picked seventh by the coaches and fifth by the media in the Big West. … 6-3 center Julie Wynstra came off the bench at NAU to score 17 points in 16 minutes at NAU. She's the Vandals' lone full-time returning starter. … Senior point guard Tasha Rico has 16 assists and just four turnovers for Idaho. Her sister Lyndsie was a three-year starter at Boise State in the early 1990s. … Four graduates of Crescent Valley High in Corvallis, Ore., could play tonight: junior guard Meg LeBlanc for Idaho as well as Lauren Cooper, Brooklynn Lorenzen and Leah Meier for UM. … Lady Griz guard Cheryl Keller averaged 6.4 ppg last season, but she finished with a team-high 15 against Georgia in the NCAA tournament. This year she has 13 and a career-high 19 in the two games she's played in, and she took over the last three minutes at Western Kentucky. … "It's encouraging to actually do something on the road. It shows you more about yourself, I think," Selvig said. "It was a noisy crowd and they were into it, so we had to handle that along with everything else."

Up next: Montana plays host to Portland on Sunday at 3 p.m. MST in Dahlberg Arena.
