DISTRICT 14-C GIRLS: Superior, Noxon advance to semis

RONAN - The Superior and Noxon girls' basketball teams opened District 14-C tournament play with wins Thursday afternoon at the Event Center.

Superior downed Two Eagle River 70-34 and Noxon beat St. Regis 63-33. Both teams move on to Friday's semifinal round.

The Bobcats (7-12) meet top-seeded Hot Springs (18-0) at 2 p.m on Friday. The Red Devils (9-11) take on Charlo (15-3) at 6 p.m.

The top two teams advance to the Western C divisional tournament next week in Butte.

Superior 70, Two Eagle River 34

Three players scored in double figures as Superior plowed past Two Eagle River and into the semifinals.

Tamara Rennick has 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Bobcats' offensive output. Jessica Taylor added 11 points and Kaila SMith had 10.

Eight more players found their way into the scoring book for Superior, which led 44-12 at halftime.

Jaylen Carpentier grabbed 12 rebounds to go with her 12 points for Two Eagle (4-15).

Kim Marich dropped in 19 points as Noxon dropped the hammer on St. Regis in their opening-round contest.

Cara Stettler added 14 points, while Stephanie Larkin had eight points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds. The Red Devils outrebounded the Tigers 37-25. Marich had 11 boards.

Noxon outscored St. Regis 21-4 in the third frame to really extend its halftime lead.

Brianna Managhan had 14 points and seven boards to lead the Tigers (2-17).
