WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Skyview takes LeProwse title: Frenchtown's Steadman earns second

BOZEMAN - Billings Skyview held off Havre Saturday to earn top team honors at the Tom LeProwse Invitational on the mats at Bozeman High School.

The Falcons sent six wrestlers to the finals but their only individual champion was Bemnan Barta (112). He decisioned Frenchtown's Tyler Steadman in the finals, 12-5.

Ronan took 11th in the team standings with 93 points. Zach Robinson (112), Cameron Neiss (125), Micky Cheff (145) and Toby Cheff (160) reached the semifinal round for the Chiefs, with Neiss and Toby Cheff later garnering third-place wins.

Polson's Brock Picard (171) also earned a third-place medal with a win over Havre's Philip Sutherland, 11-4.

Missoula Hellgate's Holden Gagner reached the semifinal round before dropping an 8-6 decision to Skyview's Nic Hinebauch.

At Kalispell, the Western AA Wolfpack received a first-round pin from Lucas Cummings and rolled past the Northwestern A Greenchain.

Cummings pinned Charlie Berget in 1:30 in the 145-pound match. Cooper Stipe (125), Larry Francis (152) and Randy Martin (189) also were winners by pin for Glacier.

Justin Graham led Libby, pinning John Frandsen in 2:57 in the 215-pound contest.

Glacier won eight matches by pin, five by forfeit and one by decision. Stipe (125), Shane St. Onge (130), Jordan Nelson (135), Riley Pisk (140), Francis (152), Tanner Woodland (160), Frandsen (215) and heavyweight Joel Horn all won their matches by pin for the Wolfpack.

At Kalispell, Francis led the Western AA Wolfpack to a dual victory over Northwestern A Columbia Falls.

Francis won the 152-pound match by pin over Joe Gross in 53 seconds. St. Onge (130) and Woodland (160) also won matches for Glacier by pin and all came before the end of the first round. Pisk earned a win by technical fall, taking the 140-pound match 18-2.

Kelly Houle led the Wildcats with a first-round pin of Martin at 189.

Mills posted a pin of Jacob Washer in 48 seconds to lead a group of six Libby wrestlers to win by pin. Kyle Leir (125), Cody Elliot (135), Dylan Berget (140), Kody Berget (160) and Justin Graham (215) also collected pins for the Greenchain.

Kaleb Prestegaard had the quickest pin of the dual for the Bulldogs, downing Morgan Peek in 44 seconds in the 152-pound match.
