Non-profit roundup

Missoula Women for Peace, reviving an old tradition, gave 10 books to the Missoula Public Library last week.

The books, winners of the Jane Addams Children's Book Award, were accepted gladly by Karen Rehard, the children's librarian.

"We appreciate receiving all these books," she said.

Jane Addams, 1860-1935, was concerned about poverty. For her efforts to counteract it, she received a Nobel Peace Prize in 1931.

The Women for Peace also will distribute information Monday on where the public's taxes go and how much Missoula sends to the government.

The group also will conduct a bake sale Monday at the Hellgate Station Postal Office on East Broadway.

The event will cost $20 for museum members and $25 for nonmembers. Call 728-0447 for reservations.

Nursing homes and HMOs are not included in this offer.
