SOUTHWEST MONTANA — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is announcing and inviting the public to comment on a proposal to upgrade and install signage at various locations throughout MDT’s Butte District. Work will occur in and around the communities of Anaconda, Belgrade, Bozeman, Butte, Deer Lodge, Dillon, East Helena, Ennis, Four Corners, and Helena.
Proposed work includes intersection signage, such as stop, stop ahead, and intersection warning signs, as well as curve warning signage, radar activated flashers, delineation, destination lighting, and retroreflective backplates on signal heads. The purpose of the project is to enhance roadway safety features and address crash trends observed at intersections and curves at various locations throughout the district.
Construction is tentatively planned for 2029 depending on completion of design and availability of funds. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
