BUTTE -- Twelve kills led four Orediggers in double digits, Brooklynn Hayes racked up 16 digs and two aces, and the Montana Tech volleyball team ran its win streak to eight matches Wednesday with a 25-16, 25-12, 24-26, 25-21 home win over Montana Western inside Valley Bank Arena.
The Orediggers (8-1, 3-0 Frontier) served up nine aces as a team in the win.
Montana Tech started off hot with the first five points of the match, forcing a UMW timeout. Dodson and Treadwell had four kills apiece in the first-set victory.
The second was all Orediggers again. Tech jumped out to another 5-0 lead to make the Bulldogs use another timeout early in a set, and the Diggs cruised to a two-set lead.
In the third, Tech seemed in control until the late going. The Orediggers led 21-17 before Montana Western (3-7, 2-1) stormed back with a 9-3 run to claim the set.
The Bulldogs stayed hot early in the fourth as they leapt to a 6-1 lead before Tech again found its feet. A Moomaw kill cut the deficit to one and earned the Orediggers service, and Hayes did the rest. The junior libero powered Tech to an 8-0 run, and the hosts put the match to bed in four sets.
It was Montana Tech's fifth straight win over their rivals from Dillon.
Kennedy Lingenfelter led the Bulldogs with 11 kills.
Montana Tech will remain home over the weekend for more Frontier Conference play. The weekend slate begins Friday at 6 p.m. against Bismarck State.
